Tigo Ghana launches International Airtime Transfer with partner TransferTo

Tigo Ghana partners with TransferTo and leading provider of Airtime Remittance services, to provide International Mobile Top-Up service, enabling Ghanaians living abroad to top-up the Tigo prepaid phones of their relatives and friends in Ghana.

Millicom Ghana, operators of the Tigo network, which is one of Ghana's leading Mobile Network Operators, today unveiled a major agreement with TransferTo to provide Ghanaians living abroad with a platform to enable them to remit small amounts of value to their loved ones in Ghana. Value is in the form of prepaid top-ups, an ideal low cost, high value complement to money remittances.

TransferTo, a Global Airtime Remittance Hub, allows real time, secure and convenient cross-border airtime transfers through multiple channels: POS to Phone, Phone to Phone and Web to Phone. While providing Tigo Ghana with a unique solution to extend the distribution of its products beyond Ghana's borders, the International Airtime Transfer service will also contribute to tightening the close ties between Ghanians abroad and their relatives in Ghana. Easy to access, Tigo Ghana Top-Ups will be available at www.transferto.com with payments possible in over 250,000 POS across Europe, Canada and South Africa. The service will also be offered in other regions such as the Gulf countries and in the USA through TransferTo distribution partners, including POS retailers and partner Mobile Network Operators that offer Phone to Phone airtime transfer services.

"The launch of International Airtime Transfer with TransferTo is not only seen as a great opportunity for Tigo Ghana, but also demonstrates our commitment to deliver the broadest range of Value Added Services to our customers in Ghana and abroad!" said William Noi-Mensah, ePin Product Manager of Tigo Ghana. Mr. Mensah also added that, "TransferTo's solution offers the great advantage of making our products available all over the world and in particular, in countries hosting large communities of Ghanaians such as the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands and the USA".

"We are very excited by this new partnership that allows us to improve our existing offering for Ghanaians living abroad who show growing demand for International Mobile Top-Up services" said Eric Barbier, CEO of TransferTo who also underlined that "partnering with Tigo Ghana is an important milestone in TransferTo's continued efforts in deploying its footprint in West African countries."

With more than 100 migration corridors covering five continents, TransferTo is a leading global player in the international airtime remittance space.
